Stupidity on All Sides

Got another spiteful comment on a Facebook post today. I love it when some libtard or crackservitive comes out of the woodworks spewing invective about my personal life. For the libtards, the accusation is that I am a white male who just wants to be rich. For the crackservitives, it's I'm some touchy feely hippy that has lost touch with reality. Ah, the joys of thinking for one's self: having different ideas about things most people hold to be self evident (and therefore they don't think about) will lead to a lot of abuse. Well, I for one am not going to just take it. I've been relatively mild to these people in comparison to what I'm actually thinking, but I'm not going to hold back at all here.

First of all, quit making value judgments on my life when you have no idea how the hell I live my life! Assuming that I am a racist, sexist, manipulative, cheater because I am white, male, and ambitious has one huge glaring flaw: that assumption is also racist, sexist, and overly vague with no supporting evidence. I denounce anyone who argues or feels this way as a hypocrite. Racism and sexism are two way streets – remove the huge beam from your own eye before you try to pluck a sliver from mine. You people demean innocent people all over the world with your hatred. If you want to target individual people for being overly selfish and harmful with proper evidence, go right ahead. Take your own advice, though, and quit applying negative traits to people based on their race, sex, religion, or economic standing. If you do this, you are just as bad as those you say you are fighting.

Secondly, the majority is often wrong. There's a lot of misinformation out there, and a lot of people who are willing to lie to you to achieve their own ends. This includes people of your own political parties. This includes our government as a whole. It even includes people who say they are trying to help you and may even genuinely feel they are doing so.

Any of you who believe that putting more power into the hands of government at the expense of personal liberty are deluded. You ignore the facts that our governments have been bought off by big corporations. You either ignore or try to take advantage of the fact that our governments have become one big dole system. Instead of trying to make the system truly fair (in that each keeps his own property rightly given to him), you try to fix things so that YOU get a bigger share. After all, the big corporations do it – you should get a piece of the pie too, right? In acting like them, you again become the very monster that you say you are fighting against. You are just as bad as they are, and I will fight your vile, destructive ideas until the day I die.

I hope one day to be insanely rich. I hope the same for you. I am not abashed to admit such. I take the same opinion as found in the scriptures of my faith:

“... after ye have obtained a hope in Christ ye shall obtain riches, if ye seek them; and ye will seek them for the intent to do good – to clothe the naked, and to feed the hungry, and to liberate the captive, and administer relief to the sick and the afflicted.” (Jacob 2:19, Book of Mormon)

Now, I believe most bureaucrats to be sick and afflicting but I don't think that this is the group of people being talked about here. When you place power in the hands of government you only benefit those who are politically connected, which are usually NOT the poor, the naked, and the hungry. Lining the pockets of government officials and their friends is not the way I want to spend my time and efforts. They give out small boons to the poor to shut them up and rape our financial system with trillions of dollars in bailouts to big corporations. You think that will be fixed with socialism? It IS socialism already! Most of those who say they are for capitalism are for socialism for companies. You can't hand out money to one group without opening avenues to simply hand it out to another...

When you try to restrict what I can do with my time and my money, you get in the way of me helping others. I have no toleration for those who claim that because I am rich (or am going to be, I have a net worth of -$20,000) that I deserve to be punished. You are getting in the way of me helping people. The unthinking idiots that propose such things do not realize that there are many people out there who spend their time and their money to make the lives of themselves and those around them better. Most of the “rich” people that I have known or followed on the internet are either very generous people or advocate being generous.

It's a stark contrast to a lot of the “poor” people that I've known. Most of them gripe about how people aren't giving them enough. I used to do work for clients that were low budget because I wanted to help them. You know what I got from that? A slew of complaints, and a bunch of lying and fanangling as they tried to eak out every lost drop of sweat and blood from me. I get the same thing all across the financial spectrum, but it seems especially prevalent at the lower end. Poor people can be just as selfish and deceitful as rich people, and often are as bad as the stereotype for rich people. There's no shame in asking for and receiving help from another person. There's a lot of shame in trying to force another person to help you.

It's not a crime to be poor, neither is it a crime to be rich. It is a crime to steal, and it seems like many of us have forgotten that. We have departed from a system of morals of right and wrong to a system governed by politics. It's no longer about treating people decently, it's about race. It's about what gender you are. We no longer care what a person contributes to society, we only care about what we are going to get out of the system. Continue to punish the contributors, and you're going to screw us all eventually as people realize that there's no benefit to contributing.

Those interested in doing good to those around them often don't trumpet their own deeds to their friends. They may have a nice car and a nice phone, but you have no idea how much time, effort, and money they have spent in service to their fellow men and women. There are those who are well off who give out much more in untraceable ways than they will ever get back in a lifetime. Remember this the next time that you are grumbling about how well someone is doing: are you committing the same crime of which you accuse them?
